DIY Skate Ramp by My Hubs

Every year I struggle to find a gift for my nephew.  I usually go with a video game, Legos, or whatever else he might be into at the moment.

Recently, he has gotten into skate boarding... I had the brilliant idea to build him a skate ramp this year.  {ok, I told asked the hubs to build him a ramp}  Once we he did the research and got the measurements he went off to Lowes... and found out that is was going to cost over $300 to build the ramp!  {holey crap, this activity is really really expensive!}  I was bummed that we weren't going to be able to give him the ramp.  I started looking for a different gift... BUT the hubs came across some ramps on the wonderful Craigslist.  {genius}  We left about an hour later to pick up the used ramp, but it was way too steep for a beginner... so we he took it apart, rebuilt it and added to it.  It still ended up costing a bit but way less than three hundred!  {ok, so I took the old nails out... the hubs did the rest}

The bottom of the ramp kept curling up so we he soaked it and then parked the truck on it for 4 days. The hubs has great ideas!
Once my nephew realized what was pulling into his driveway he was surprised.  Obviously you can tell from the pictures below that this gift was a hit!  We even added a little "graffiti" to make it official.
My dad tried to skate fell on his ass several times, and I missed both photo ops!

Now aren't you glad you aren't married to me?!?! I might find something for you to make after work and on weekends...

It was my vision... but his creation.  I love that man.
