It is Mani Monday!
Happy Memorial Day! I have the stars and "stripes" flying on my nails today! {kinda}
I used China Glaze (AHOY), L.A. Colors (no name) and Jordana (Silver Glitter). The stars are from my konad stamping set... love those!

Happy Memorial Day {Care Packs for Heroes}
Today seems like a perfect day to introduce you to one of my new favorite websites, Care Packs for Heroes.
We all have Heroes close to us, related to us, or at least know someone in the service. My friend Su and her partner developed Care Packs last year after winning the Pepsi Refresh Project.
The site has recently gone live so head on over and check it out! While you are there, why not test is out and let a Hero know that they are appreciated?!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all you service men and women!
disclaimer: I was not paid or even asked to write this post. I just wanted to share this site with my readers because everyone needs to know that "home" is always thinking of them while they put their lives on the line for us!
We all have Heroes close to us, related to us, or at least know someone in the service. My friend Su and her partner developed Care Packs last year after winning the Pepsi Refresh Project.
"Care Packs provides an efficient, simple service for friends and relatives of soldiers to send care packages during the time of active deployment or when a soldier is stationed outside of the US. This includes scheduling, purchasing chosen items, fulfillment of orders, enabling multiple people to support a single or many soldiers."
Basically how it works is just like a wedding or baby registry. The difference, you can create a registry for your Hero and share with your friends and family or you can just sign up and send a care pack to an unknown Hero.

Today is Summer's Birthday! This girl has been in my friend since we were this big and she is one of my bloggy bffs. I admit when we were in middle school I wasn't such a great friend to her, but her friendship never wavered. She is an all around awesome person and I am honored to call her my friend.

Me and My Glasses
A few years ago I noticed that I had started to count street lights in order to know where to turn next. {you know, after X street it's 3 more lights until my street... ummmm ya} Anywho, I can see everything just fine, I just can't read the actual street sign until it is too late. Well, it didn't bother me any, honestly, I can't tell you how long I had been doing it. It was actually my neighbor that pointed out my little secret. While driving I had asked her "what street was that"? She told me and asked "why"? It was at that point when the words came out of my mouth "because I count streets because I can't read the sign" {pause} Well, that is a problem isn't it??!?!
I bit the bullet and made an appointment at the local optometrist. And what do you know... I needed glasses. Shocking, I know. Well, right then I decided that I was really really really opposed to wearing glasses everyday, so I decided I would get some fun bright red frames and contacts. My third set of trial contacts didn't work out so I wore those frames everyday.
Picking the right frame is the worst part of searching for eyeglasses... I am sure that it is for many people. I didn't think too much when I purchased my red frames because I was only going to wear them at home, so who cared if they weren't perfect. I now wear my glasses 95% of the time, so now I take a little bit more care when decided what frames I want for the year. Did you know that you can upload a picture online and try on frames at home? Try it out, it saves a lot of time wandering around the store picking up every frame.
The next time I need to buy glasses I will definitely be using this feature!
If you know me, you know that I live in my sweatpants. Buying online eyeglasses is going to save me from ever getting dressed... oh OK, I guess I will have to get dressed eventually.
GlassesUSA.com is offering my readers a Spring Savings Sale:
Take 50% off any pair or prescription eyeglasses / sunglass frames, plus free shipping. Code: SPRING50FS
Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses Code: Blog10

Diet Diary {week 5}
It's been a while since I have updated... but I have been doing pretty well on my diet. I have been working out 5 times a week and limiting my calorie intake. I still have at least one day that I eat too much... but I can't give up sushi Wednesday!
My neighbors are I have been doing Shred during the week... but it's getting old. Looks like it's time for level 2!

Just Like the Boys
My hubby and his friends have this "thing" with wrapping gifts with duck tape. Every Christmas my hubby wraps his brothers gift by himself. Two years ago he had the neighbors come over and they paper mached my brother-in-laws gift, then he made a wooden box, put the paper mached gift inside... and then wrapped it in duck tape, etc. etc. etc. It took my BIL forever to open it as the whole family watched.
On to my story... I recently had a birthday and our friend gave me my gift wrapped it in Nascar wrapping (aka duck tape). Well, I had his gift on order from his birthday last month and it arrived yesterday so I decided to play like the boys.
It might be duck tape, but it had to be prettier than the silver stuff so I headed out and picked up black, white, and teal.
This is his present... if you know me, it killed me not to order one for my truck too. But I didn't... and I want it bad! Ok, I wrapped it up in a USPS flat rate box, check. Just like the boys...
I had to add a girly touch and make it difficult to open so I put the emblem between two pieces of fabric and sewed it shut. Just like the boys... kinda.
And then I covered the whole box in duck tape just like the boys do. I added few more girly touches and ta da, my Nascar, just like the boys, wrapping job!
I hope you like your present James!

My Menu Monday {week 3}
Monday: Honey Chipotle Chicken, Corn, and Rice
I went to Costco on Sunday and found Foster Farm Honey Chipotle Chicken Breasts... they looked delicious, so I am going to be the guinea pig and test them out. They are pre-marinated, so I am going to make some corn and rice and throw them on the grille. Easy Peasey.
Tuesday: Teriyaki Steak Lettuce Wraps recipe here
Wednesday: Sushi Date Night with my Sister
Thursday: Szechuan Shredded Beef Stir-Fry recipe here
